About Us

The Beijing+25 Network is a grassroots network of over 70 feminist and equality-seeking organizations working domestically on women’s rights and gender equality issues in Canada. The organizations within the Network are committed to monitoring the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA) in Canada.

In the 25 years since the BPfA, civil society organizations have been using this framework to advocate for progress on the rights of women and girls. Every five years since 1995, there has been a review of progress on the BPfA and civil society have organized themselves loosely within networks to contribute to parallel reports to submit to the United Nations.

In 2019, civil society once again convened, this time as the Canadian Beijing+25 Network, since we were working together in the lead up to the 25-year review.

The 25-year review of the BPfA was supposed to take place in the spring and summer of 2020 but was rescheduled to the spring and summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
